PRESBYTERY PLANNING COMMITTEE DRAFT PROPOSALS The Kirk Session at a special meeting held on Sunday 5 February considered the Draft Presbytery Plan as it affects Old High St Stephen’s Congregation. The plan proposes that Old High St Stephen’s should close one of its buildings and favours retention of Old High Building and closure of St Stephen’s Building. The Plan includes deployment of ministers, given that number of ministers available for charges is certain to fall dramatically in the next ten years. The position of ministers currently in charges is protected. The Plan also seeks to change Parish Boundaries within the Presbytery.
The Kirk Session has formulated a number of questions with regard to the proposed plan seeking clarification of the criteria used in its formation. At this early stage prior to a Presbytery Decision, the Kirk Session seeks to consult with the Presbytery Planning Committee and inform itself so that at later stages in the process it can responsibly represent the interests of Old High St Stephen’s. The Kirk Session seeks the prayerful support of the congregation at this difficult time as they move forward in seeking and realising their place in the mission of the church within Inverness Presbytery.
